Safe schools providing quality education are the norm in Wayne County, where the K-12 student population is predominately served by three school districts – Wallenpaupack Area, Wayne Highlands, and Western Wayne. (Three peripheral school districts educate students in the outlying areas.) During the 2001-2002 school year, a total of 634 students graduated from the County’s three districts, of which 47.8% indicated they were college bound. Average expenditure per student at each district was in line with the PA average of $8070, a figure that ranked Pennsylvania 16th in the country in 2001-2002.
Students enjoy a full-range of extracurricular activities designed to increase life-long learning skills. Career and technology training, job shadowing and apprentice programs familiarize students with the work environment and develop critical skills for future employment.
