We believe economic development will be driven by providing an available, affordable, and competent workforce.

The past five years has been a success story for Wayne County. We have increased higher education offerings, created a business-education partnership, utilized our library system to create eight new career development sites, garnered grant fund to improve our education infrastructure, and brought thousands of dollars into our communities for customized job training.  Workforce Wayne is our intermediary workforce development organization – which means one call can provide employers access to the full complement of local and regional workforce development resources.

Available

Wayne County’s location in the northeast corner of the Commonwealth puts us at the leading edge of expansion from the NY/NJ metro areas, and provides the basis for an increasing labor supply with a commuting pattern that favors local development.

Affordable

Few northeast locations can match Wayne County and the region when looking for a quality workforce at affordable wages.  The work ethic of our people is well documented.   What is extraordinary is the savings gained for such excellence.

Competent

The productivity here is far greater than many places. The work ethic is absolutely incredible. In my travels to other financial service offices around the country we often talk about staff and I come home feeling very good knowing that the people I have hired in Northeast PA are absolutely terrific. I would put them up against anybody’s staff anywhere in this country or even the world."
