Sterling BusinessPark

Phase 1 of the 252-acre business park, located in Sterling Township, will be completed in 2011.  We are pursuing final subdivision approval and have engaged a commercial real estate firm to sell lots.  The project has garnered over $8 million in funding and is expected to create over 800 jobs and $68 million in private investment for Phase 1.

Oil & Gas Taskforce

WEDCO co-chairs the economic development subcommittee with the Wayne County Chamber for the Taskforce.  Our goal is to connect local businesses to the natural gas industry.

WEDCO has joined others in taking a stand that all new development regulations imposed upon our County must be evaluated for their full economic impact.  We will continue working with our government officials/agencies on regional initiatives to make sure Wayne County is fuly represented.

We will continue to provide technical support to our municipalities and agencies for projects formation of the Central Wayne Regional Authority, and resources to individual development projects such as the Hawley Silk Mill.

Promoting Our Members

We have expanded our online Business Directory to include searches for products and services.  WEDCO membership is also acknowledged in newspapers and special event programs.  WEDCO members also receive preferential referrals.

Our Annual Meeting & Dinner, Sustaining Membership luncheon and Innovator of the Year luncheon feature prominent speakers and provide valuable networking opportunities.
